A new start to geniusandco?

18 04 2009

Sooo…been a long time..out of all my posts wanna know what the most popular is? the one about how information can be absorbed while sleeping … and the tag about sleeping in class is what brought it the 182 views its had… i spent a lot of time sleeping in class in high school… and a lot of time not going to class in 2 years in college… kinda fitting… anyway…

Whats the point of this blog? whats the point of any blog… for a long time i used it as an constructive outlet for my thoughts and i guess thats what most end up being..

There really isn’t any point to it actually…. i dont have some underlying message… or an overlying theme as a select few may have noticed… the name includes the word genius… i don’t consider myself one by any means… the name was inspired by a conversation with a dear friend when we were chatting about how we should get people to pay us for our advice… there actually isn’t even a co… not yet… maybe never…

I’m going to attempt to start updating this on a more regular basis as there are always new scientific discoveries out there and that is where much of my interest lies.. the problem is I don’t always know exactly how to get my thoughts about them through to other people…

blah blah… whtvr… im gonna start passing on information again… if anyone has any messages about transformation, possibilities, or just interesting facts they want to share..comment on an article , or this one… and hit me with your gmail username… ill add you as an author … owise… enjoy the sporadica ;)

Failure hits Nasa’s ‘CO2 hunter’

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7907570.stm

Seems too coincidental that two of the most potentially powerful tools we’ve developed in the past few years have failed…

The large hadron collidor has the potential to unlock the mysteries of the entire universe and this Co2 hunter could have helped us manage our planet’s warming issue much better. Maybe even help find a solution..

With all the time the scientists and teams of engineers spend on these projects and their acute attention to every detail it bothers me that yet another eye opening project has suffered a “failure”

De-evolution maybe?

28 01 2009

“BGC is thought to be strongest in regions of high recombination, and can cause harmful mutations can spread through populations. The results lead to the provocative hypothesis that, rather than being the result of Darwinian selection for new adaptations, many of the genetic changes leading to human-specific characters may be the result of the fixation of harmful mutations. This contrasts the traditional Darwinistic view that they are the result of natural selection in favour of adaptive mutations.”

Fixation of harmful mutations… Sounds a lot like bad habits to me… We’ve also gradually removed ourselves from the natural world and to a very very large degree, natural selection…. I wonder if theres any way to check the rate of these mutations and if they have been speeding up..

guns_and_alcohol2

I found myself at a Crossroads of the west gunshow in Utah today.. I found myself in a very strange place… There are multiple reasons but the main interest point was… They were selling beer at the gun show… On a sunday…So there are two things wrong with this… Well… the two biggest things are..

#1 Are you f-ing serious? Serving alcohol, guns and ammunition in the same place? I mean..I’m not normally one to judge,  but this blew me away. Man i’m pissed i didn’t get those pictures… Saw some sweet characters roaming around looking at bullet proof vests, handling aks, and drinking beers…

#2 This is a compound on top of #1 State liquor stores in utah are closed on sundays.. You can’t buy hard liquor or wine in this state on a sunday… Buttt…You can buy guns and beer on a sunday after you get out of church….

Just another zaney day in the twighlight zone…

Stay classy Utah..

Ok so I try not to… But seriously? The new year is turning out to be very interesting and it hasn’t even happened yet…

Israel begins their campaign against the gaza strip which will probably involve a full scale invasion

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7804218.stm

Iran pledges support for hamas which will probably include military support in the case of a full scale invasion

Bush still has 21 days in office

Whether it’s Bush or Obama when it hits the fan, we still have waaaay too much invested in israel.

Russia may be about to cut off the gas to the ukraine in the dead of winter..

who will apparently take over california and the west.. wonder if they’ve talked about that on the phone, that russian seems pretty sure they’ll get alaska…

Iran/Gaza being the flint for the fire…

hahaha, i always used to complain that the world was a boring place, too predictable… then i stopped paying attention and it turned into the twilight zone… Wtf are people doing with their lives?  We should be concentrating on space exploration and  fixing our planet… If we just changed the industry from war to space exploration  the same shit could go down.. Evil leaders could still kill plenty of people if they need to…Just tell them you’re sending them to a new planet.. Whtvr… Who knows, just sick of the pointless destruction.. At least have some fucking creativity and real ambition. Taking over the world? weaksauce.. Finding a new  one would be waaaaay classier.

Supersolids

29 12 2008

“At very low temperatures, helium can be solid and a perfect liquid at the same time. Theoreticians, though, have incorrectly explained the phenomenon for a long time. Computer simulations at ETH Zurich have shown that only impurities can make this effect possible.”

duality

hmmm..This article intrigues me…liquid/solid…wave/particle….quantum behavior exhibited in a macro object?

the fact that the crystals have to have “defects” is intriguing too..good representation of the possibility factor or vagueness of quantum behavior..

wonder if there are any special optic properties related to supersolidity…

Insects tend to dance more on cocaine too

26 12 2008

Hahaha

“Normally, foraging honey bees alert their comrades to potential food sources only when they’ve found high quality nectar or pollen, and only when the hive is in need. They do this by performing a dance, called a “round” or “waggle” dance, on a specialized “dance floor” in the hive. The dance gives specific instructions that help the other bees find the food.

“Foraging honey bees on cocaine are more likely to dance, regardless of the quality of the food they’ve found or the status of the hive, the authors of the study report.”

of the spotless mind?

“In a discovery that may one day lead to the ability to erase debilitating painful memories and addictions from the brain, researchers at SUNY Downstate Medical Center have found that a molecule known to preserve memories – PKMzeta – specifically stores complex, high-quality memories that provide detailed information about an animal’s location, fears, and actions, but does not control the ability to process or express this information. This finding suggests that PKMzeta erasure that is designed to target specific debilitating memories could be effective against the offending memory while sparing the computational function of brain”
